My name is Amanda Mann, and it is my honor to be the new Superintendent/Principal of Independence Charter Middle School.
I have been working in education for the last 14 years. I have spent most of that time in Oklahoma and in secondary schools. From my experience in both charter schools and more traditional schools, and my time in OKC as well as other towns in Oklahoma, I have come to love both charter schools and Oklahoma City.
I received my bachelor’s from SWOSU; it is in English with an emphasis in writing. My master’s in Educational Administration is from SWOSU as well. I am currently working on my Ph.D at the University of Oklahoma in Educational Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision. I am ABD, all but dissertation, and: I am currently starting my dissertation.
I am passionate about curriculum and instruction, and I believe learning should be fun! I believe teachers should love coming to work, and students should love coming to school and learning. ICMS has this culture already ingrained in their processes, so I am excited to join with the work being done here! The focus on middle school is such a needed element in our educational system, and I am proud to be a part of the community that recognizes this and has acted to make a positive change and impact student lives in such a fabulous way.
